ADVERSITY is not always a bad thing. Along with challenges of hard times come the opportunity to reinvent and introduce positive things.
Women especially are no strangers to adversity in the workplace as they’ve had to struggle for equal pay, perks and opportunities.
Some of these dynamic and successful women who have managed to turn adversity into amazing opportunities will talk about their experiences at the 7th Women’s Summit on Aug 18 at the Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
Speakers from the financial, legal and entrepreneurial sectors will be sharing their secrets of success. The theme is Can Women Turn Adversity Into Opportunity?
A number of interesting topics will be covered including Turning Adversity To Advantage, Gearing For The Upside In A Downturn and Opportunities For Enterprise.
Among some of the personalities who will be presenting papers include Rita Sim Sai Hoon, entrepreneur and executive director of Sin Chew Media Corporation; Datuk Dr Nirmala Menon, president and CEO of ING Insurance Berhad, and Shireen Muhiudeen, founder and managing director of Corston-Smith Asset Management.
Sim also writes commentaries on politics and women’s affairs, and is a member of the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Malaysia.
Dr Nirmala, a medical practitioner by training, has more than 16 years’ experience in insurance and is the first woman CEO in the industry.
Shireen has over 21 years of fund management experience, and manages the portfolios of clients who invest in the Asean region.
Other invited speakers include Bobbi Dangerfield, managing director of Dell Global Business Centre and Christina Chia, founding partner of legal firm Christina Chia Ng & Partners and author of Mind Garden.
