The Gems and Gemological Institute of the Pakistan (GGIP) has started special training course for women to enhance their skill in gems cutting and jewellery-making. The special course that will continue till January 5 is being conducted as joint venture with the Women Business Development Center, Trade Development Authority Pakistan (TDAP) and Honey Academy Hayatabad to train the women for jewellery entrepreneurship.
Chairman of Gems and Gemological Institute of the Pakistan Ziaul Haq Sarhadi inaugurated the course. TDAP Director General Abdul Kareem Shah Hashmi, while briefing the members of the special course on the latest developments in the gems and jewellery industry, said it was growing trade and the women could play a very vital role in its development. The official said the training course would provide the trainees with an opportunity to raise their knowledge about gems and jewellery making and enable them to earn honourable livelihood.
